Psychologist, Human-Centered Designer and Founder of Design for Within
Carmen is a people person through and through and her default state is endlessly curious. She view life as a grand experiment and distress as an activation energy.
Academically, she holds a Master of Science in Psychology with distinction and a Master of Engineering, Design Impact from Stanford University. Her training includes mentorship under Drs. John and Julie Gottman, renowned for their groundbreaking work in relationship research and therapy, as well as coaching under Ricki J. Frankel and Mark Voorsanger.
Professionally, she has led strategy at Lufthansa Group and founded a consulting firm where she has coached and trained thousands of employees and executives on effective communication, mental health, and suicide prevention. At Stanford, she co-created and co-taught a course on human-centered AI alongside Peter Norvig and Dan Russel.
Her pro-bono work includes serving as president of Stanford’s Women in Women’s Health and training University professors in the global south on human-centered design through an organization called Impact Week.
She lives part time in Berlin, part time in Silicon Valley.
Mixed Methods Researcher, Ethnographer and Designer
Mihret is a results-oriented design researcher and prototyper. She has over seven years of experience utilizing a powerful combination of ethnographic and quantitative methodologies to tackle complex challenges.
With an MS in Design, Engineering from Stanford University, and a BA in Economics from Cornell University, Mihret offers a robust and interdisciplinary approach to understanding user behavior and market needs.
Her experience includes conducting extensive user research, interviewing over 800 individuals across diverse global contexts to derive strategic insights for impactful product and service development.
She is based in San Francisco.
Organizational Psychologist, Change Strategist, Agile Facilitator
Ubai is passionate about driving meaningful transformation at the intersection of psychology, technology, and organizational strategy. With a background in psychology and law, he brings a structured yet human-centered approach to change management, digital transformation, and process optimization.
Holding a Master of Science in Psychology and additional training agile methodologies, and business analysis, Ubai has worked across industries, from healthcare to consulting. His experience spans roles at Charité, AWO, and Accenture, where he led digital initiatives, optimized business processes, and supported large-scale organizational change.
A certified Scrum Master and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Ubai excels in creating agile, people-centered solutions that balance efficiency with empathy.
He is based in Berlin.
Innovation Designer, Systems Thinker, Interdisciplinary Builder
Stella is a hands-on strategist who thrives at the intersection of creativity, complexity, and social impact. Trained in health service design, policy, and human-centered innovation, she brings ideas to life, from playful prototypes to national data systems, always with an eye toward equity and global public goods.
She holds a PhD in Health Service Design from Charité, an MSc in Health Economics from LSE and LSHTM, and a postgraduate degree in Health Technology Innovation from Stanford University, where she was a Biodesign Fellow. She also studied History and Political Science at Sciences Po.
Her work spans public, private, and nonprofit sectors: contributing to Germany’s national COVID crisis response and coordinating the vaccine rollout; getting her hands dirty in the wood shop or at the 3D printer to build educational games on contraception; and shaping market strategies for clients at McKinsey. From clinical settings to policy circles, Stella connects people and ideas across disciplines, industries, and levels of influence.
She is based in Zurich.
